Just wondering did you get my video, and if yes how did you like it?

One thing I like to point out is that it’s a bit awkward to name the video Bonavita Coffee maker and then have drip coffee maker and not just coffee maker as a tag for the video.

Yeah…finally, the new hotness. When can we expect the Technivorm VS. Bonavita? Awesome video as always.

I did a lot of reading on this on various forums and from what I have read they are the only company which brews the coffee at the optimum temperature.

@pepsi458 Agreed! And also, it makes a great cup of coffee :) – Kat

@WarmProp Good idea! Well I think that Technivorm has the most right now … so would it be a fair contest? ;) – Kat

@CDTrules7 Sorry I didn’t get into YT stuff until today (Mondays are crazy around here) and am going to watch it this afternoon – I will comment on it there. Thanks again for doing that :) – Kat

@klarinetta You’re kidding me, right? – Kat

@thePowerPlant Soon!! Next week – Kat

@Malangsufi The Technivorms and the Breville YouBrew do, as well; they all brew 195F – 205F. – Kat

Looked like a decent cup you enjoyed from the Bonavita. The price isn’t bad, and it’s probably better than some of the “well known” brands at a similar price from the dept. stores, SB, Peet’s, etc. But the non-showering shower head is a joke. Makes me think that the only thing it’s got going for it is the brew temp.

Cool to see more value-oriented coffee makers inspired by the Technivorm, which is an excellent coffee maker. I see two major functionality differences between the two: the Bonavita has no filter basket with ability to close valve and the shower head covers the entire basket. One technique with the TV is to close valve, fill/bloom, then stir, open valve. Not sure if that would be possible with this, but looks pretty good otherwise given price.
SeattleCoffeeGear on February 8, 2012 at 12:17 am
@ConsumerFanatics No; you can’t remove at all since the filter basket is sitting directly on the carafe — so no mid-brew pouring, either. For the significant price difference, however, there’s a couple of gives on it that you’d have to learn to live with. – Kat

@MrScottG17 The dispersion wasn’t quite as nice as I would have liked to see, but the end result was fairly nice. We’re going to do some side by sides to see if folks can tell them apart or if one (TV vs. this) is noticeably different. – Kat

Any thoughts on the Bunn CWTC thermal carafe models? They’re pretty expensive, but they seem to have all the nice features sorted for those that want to brew lots of quality coffee quickly. They seem like a better, if not more industrial machine than the Technivorm.

@SeattleCoffeeGear nope. For some reason earlier I only got your video when I searched for Bonavita drip coffee maker but now I also get it when I search for Bonavita coffee maker.

Half’n'half? C’mon Gail, don’t do that! ;-)
DackIsBack on February 8, 2012 at 3:47 am
Glass is chemically inert, as there’s no effect on the alkaloids/terpenes or what have you it shouldn’t alter that taste at all.
SeattleCoffeeGear on February 8, 2012 at 7:12 pm
@ConsumerFanatics Our rep @ Bonavita wanted to speak up about this — ‘based on the offset hole in the bottom of the filter basket, it will allow the coffee to saturate/immerse the grounds without the manual switch’. – Kat
SeattleCoffeeGear on February 8, 2012 at 7:13 pm
@mieczyslam She loves it! Can’t break the habit I guess – Kat
SeattleCoffeeGear on February 8, 2012 at 7:14 pm
@DackIsBack Chemically inert yet moving in slow motion — yow! :D – Kat
ConsumerFanatics on February 8, 2012 at 7:25 pm
@SeattleCoffeeGear Interesting. As you know, the TV also has an offset hole in the basket. Without looking or trying the BV, I can’t compare (sounds like a video idea to me: BV vs TV showdown!)
SeattleCoffeeGear on February 8, 2012 at 7:26 pm
@ConsumerFanatics Yes — it is on tap for next week! :) We’ll brew up batches and then have the crew taste & choose, like we’ve done with other tests. – Kat

fyi, this machine has been sold as a Melitta for quite a long time in Europe. on the german amazon site, it has been getting pretty good reviews.
looks like a great alternative to the double priced technivorms.
